British, Italian, and German travelers contributed to the extension of the Greek tourism season in October 2025, according to the Bank of Greeces Travel Balance of Payments developments bulletin for the tenth month of the year. At the same time, travel receipts from the beginning of the year through October amounted to 22.38 billion, increased by 1.8 billion or +8.9% compared with the 10-month period of 2024, while the number of travelers reached 35.26 million.
Specifically, the 8.2% increase recorded in October receipts, which amounted to 2.25 billion, was driven by a 7.2% rise in inbound travel flows (to 3.66 million travelers) and a 0.4% increase in average expenditure per trip.
Regarding the largest increases in receipts, revenues from the United Kingdom rose by 42.9% (to 453.7 million), receipts from Italy increased by 31.7% (to 77.6 million), while receipts from Germany also rose by 9.8% (to 495.4 million).
By contrast, receipts from France declined by 15.3% (to 93.6 million) and from the United States by 15.5% (to 144.7 million).
Germany, Italy and the United Kingdom also recorded increases in travel flows in October. Travel flows from Germany rose by 9% to 810.2 thousand travelers, from Italy by 25.4% to 147.3 thousand travelers, and from the United Kingdom by 24.3% to 628 thousand travelers. Declines were recorded from France (-14%, to 165.9 thousand travelers) and the United States (-24.1%, to 124.9 thousand travelers).
35.2 million travelers in the 10-month period, 22.4 billion in receipts
The increase in receipts over the 10-month period stemmed from a 4.4% rise in inbound travel flows, to 35.26 million travelers compared with 33.78 million in the same period last year, as well as a 3.9% increase in average expenditure per trip, distributed by nationality as follows
Receipts from Germany recorded an increase of 0.5% and amounted to 3,610.8 million, as did receipts from France, which rose by 5.3% to 1,285.6 million. Receipts from Italy were also strengthened by 8.1%, reaching 1,274.4 million. From other countries, receipts from the United Kingdom rose by 15.1% to 3,551.7 million, while receipts from the United States increased to 1,543.9 million, up by 8.4%. Finally, receipts from Russia rose to 22.6 million.
Travel flows from Germany increased by 8.3% to 5,654.2 thousand travelers, while travel flows from France decreased by 2% to 1,874.9 thousand travelers. Travel flows from Italy rose by 8.2% to 2,095.6 thousand travelers. As for other countries, travel flows from the United Kingdom increased by 6.6% to 4,684.4 thousand travelers, while travel flows from the United States also increased by 2% to 1,397.4 thousand travelers. Finally, travel flows from Russia rose to 20.5 thousand travelers.
Inbound travel flows do not include cruise figures.
