GNTO | Educational trip promotes Thessaloniki and Halkidiki to the British market

A fam trip by British Airways Holidays in collaboration with the Thessaloniki Tourism Promotion Organization is promoting Thessaloniki as a city break destination to the British public. The trip was implemented within the framework of strengthening the professional contacts of the Greek National Tourism Organization of the United Kingdom & Ireland with the British market and is the product of good cooperation between the Greek National Tourism Organization and British Airways & British Airways Holidays.

The aim of the synergy was to get to know Thessaloniki and Halkidiki and to provide authentic experiences of the region to 11 British Airways Holidays sales executives from Manchester and Birmingham, accompanied by the Destination Manager Short Haul, in order to substantially strengthen the promotion of the two destinations to the British public in view of the summer season.

A catalytic role in the development of Thessaloniki in the British market is played by the direct air connection with the United Kingdom through daily flights of British Airways from London’s Heathrow and Gatwick airports. This connectivity makes Thessaloniki a hub, an ideal starting point for road trips in the wider region, while its cultural and gastronomic identity highlights it as an ideal destination for city breaks throughout the year.

The synergy through the familiarization trip was a powerful experiential promotion tool and contributed substantially to the strengthening of sales of tourist packages to Northern Greece, strengthening the image of Thessaloniki and Halkidiki among the British public.
