The municipality of Naxos and the Small Cyclades is embarking on a path of cultural and social renaissance, proceeding with the implementation of seven new museums.
The establishment of the seven museums -two of which concern new cultural structures in mountainous Naxos- is part of a plan to promote local cultural identity. At the same time, the remaining five museums concern renovations or reopenings of important cultural centers on the island. The Municipality’s goal is to stimulate visitor numbers in areas with a rich but less prominent cultural reserve, while strengthening the local economy and the extroversion of the island, as it is characteristically emphasized.
In the meantime, beyond strengthening cultural infrastructure, the Municipality also emphasizes critical issues in the daily lives of citizens, planning and implementing a series of actions, as it explains:
- Sports infrastructure: Upgrades to existing stadiums and creation of new sports areas.
- Education in healthy nutrition and exercise: Online workshops for children and adolescents.
- Civil protection: Implementation of the “IOLAOS 2” plan for the prevention and response to forest fires.
- Vaccination program: Participation in the National Program for the coverage of children and adolescents.
