Central Macedonia's dynamic presence at ITB China 2025

With the aim of strengthening tourism extroversion and attracting visitors from the Asian market, the Region of Central Macedonia participated this year in ITB China 2025, China’s largest international tourism exhibition, held in Shanghai. The representation was undertaken by the Region’s Tourism Directorate and the Thessaloniki Tourism Organization, showcasing the region’s rich and multidimensional tourism product.

This year’s exhibition brought together over 15,000 tourism industry professionals, including more than 1,000 selected buyers and 250 media representatives. The Central Macedonia pavilion attracted strong interest, as Chinese travelers are looking for destinations that offer authentic experiences, combining cultural and nature tourism with gastronomy.

During the exhibition, over 30 scheduled B2B meetings were held with leading tourism professionals, including travel agencies, tour operators, and representatives of Chinese airlines. These contacts formed the basis for new partnerships, focusing on the emergence of Central Macedonia as an attractive destination for Chinese visitors.

“Our successful presence at ITB China 2025 was an excellent opportunity to promote Central Macedonia in the Chinese market and confirmed our strategic approach to its emergence as a leading tourist destination on the international stage,” said Vicky Hatzivasiliou, Deputy Regional Governor for Tourism. “The contacts we made highlighted the strong interest of Chinese tourism professionals in our region. We are determined to continue our efforts to strengthen our presence in Asia, attracting visitors who are looking for authentic and quality experiences.”
