Kefalogiannis Meetings in South Korea | Direct Seoul-Athens Airline in Focus

A series of important contacts with leading representatives of the South Korean tourism market were held today by the Minister of Tourism, Olga Kefalogiannis, as part of her official visit to the country, accompanied by the President of the Hellenic Tourism Organization, Angela Varela.

Ms. Kefalogiannis met with the Vice Presidents of Korean Air, Kwangho Ko and Seunghyeok Lee, as well as with the General Manager, Hoon Jun. She then had contacts with the President of Hanjin Tour, Janghoon Lee, and Vice President Minsoo Kim, while a meeting followed with the Director of Lotte Tour for Europe and America, Byung-in Lim.

During her talks, the Minister highlighted South Korea as a strategic target market for Greece, presenting the strong growth trajectory of Greek tourism and the country’s shift towards new forms of sustainable tourism, which respond to the preferences of Korean travelers.

Particular emphasis was placed on the need to establish a direct Seoul-Athens air connection. As Ms. Kefalogianni emphasized, Greece not only offers authentic, high-quality experiences, but can also act as an ideal gateway to European markets.

For their part, representatives of Korean Air and tourism organizations expressed strong interest in the Greek market, emphasizing that they are targeting high-profile travelers with multi-day packages and cooperation through seasonal flights. In fact, Korean Air executives noted that the company is seriously considering further penetration of the European market.

The Minister of Tourism assured that the Ministry and the Greek National Tourism Organization will proceed with targeted actions to boost demand from South Korea to Greek destinations, creating the conditions for the establishment of a direct air connection between the two countries.
