After more than 20 years of continuous efforts, the Chania Port Fund has secured the positive opinion of the Ministry of Shipping for the construction of the cruise section at the port of Souda. The decision, signed by Secretary General Evangelos Kyriazopoulos, concerns the long-awaited extension of the Adria pier by 160 meters.
The project, with a budget of approximately 25 million euros, has now been completed at the design level and is considered “ripe” for immediate implementation. The next step is to find financing so that construction can begin.
In combination with the passenger terminal also designed for Souda, the new project will significantly enhance the competitiveness of the port, making it one of the most modern and integrated in Europe in the cruise sector.
