Cruise tourism in Greece is on a path of dynamic growth, and organized preparation of destinations is a critical factor for success. On February 56, 2026, a two-day specialized seminar will be held in Thessaloniki by the EXANTAS Port Training Institute, dedicated exclusively to cruise development and proper preparation of ports and destinations.
Aiming to provide practical tools, strategic knowledge, and operational readiness to stakeholders and professionals involved in the cruise sector, EXANTAS Port Training Institute is organizing on February 56 in Thessaloniki a two-day seminar, the first of its kind in Greece, exclusively for Greek ports and destinations.
The seminar will take place in person at the EXANTAS Port Training Institute facilities (Warehouse D, First Pier of the Port).
It represents the first organized training in Greece focused exclusively on the real needs of Greek cruise ports and destinations, at a time when the market is growing rapidly and competition is intensifying.
The instructors will be Giannis Bras, CEO of Five Senses Consulting and international cruise development consultant, and Kostas Kavdas from NextPlus, a specialist in maritime security and ISPS with many years of experience.
The seminar is addressed to port authorities and organizations, municipalities, tourism and development agencies, agents and professionals collaborating with cruise companies, as well as businesses wishing to attract and serve cruise visitors effectively. The goal is to provide actionable knowledge on the structure of the international market, decision-making processes of cruise lines, destination development strategy and itinerary planning, as well as preparation of professional presentations and B2B meetings.
Special emphasis will be placed on connecting cruises with the local economic impact, the importance of onshore experiences and local identity, as well as managing critical safety and regulatory compliance issues, such as ISPS requirements, new Schengen and EES regulations, and protection of critical assets.
Specifically, the thematic modules include topics such as the cruise line market structure and decision-making process, destination development strategy and itinerary planning, port presentations to cruise companies and preparation of B2B meetings, excursions, local identity and connection to the destinations economic impact, ISPS in practice and operational implementation during port calls, new Schengen and EES requirements implications for Greek ports, protection of critical assets and operational readiness, and destination improvement plan and performance indicators.
