Promoting Central Macedonia in France, England and Germany through fam trip for journalists and influencers

A new targeted tourism promotion action was implemented by the region of Central Macedonia, in collaboration with the offices of the Greek Tourism Organization in France and the United Kingdom, by organizing a familiarization trip (press/fam trip) for representatives of leading European media.

The program was attended by three professionals from the tourism and journalism sector: Dorisse Pradal, a journalist for the French Actu.fr, Natasha Blair, a representative for the British Silver Travel Advisor, and Janine Raddue, a content creator for the popular German media outlet Passenger X.

The trip began in Thessaloniki, with a tour of Aristotelous Square and Kapani Market, followed by visits to Vergina and the Museum of the Royal Tombs of Aigai, the archaeological site of Evropou, the Skra waterfalls in Kilkis, and a local winery for tasting.

The participants had a meeting with the mayor of Paionia, Konstantinos Sionidis, on the subject of the historic Decoville train, while in Pieria they were given a tour of the archaeological site of Dion, the Information Center of the Olympus National Park, the traditional village of Paleos Panteleimonas and the Paleontological Museum, followed by a meal at a local winery. A meeting was also held with the director of the Pierian Tourism Development and Promotion Organization.

It should be emphasized that the main objective of the action was to highlight the multidimensional tourist character of Central Macedonia, a 365-day destination that combines culture, nature, history, gastronomy and authentic hospitality.

Deputy Regional Governor for Tourism Vicky Hatzivassiliou pointed out that “through familiarization trips, the region becomes known to the participants, who in turn spread to their audience the authentic experiences they experienced. These actions constitute an excellent opportunity to showcase and promote Central Macedonia, highlighting its multifaceted character.”

The initiative is part of the Region’s broader international tourism outreach program, which aims to strengthen the presence of Central Macedonia in the main markets of Europe, through targeted cooperation and experiential promotion actions.
