Thessaloniki: Sustainable tourism at the heart of the presence at the Philoxenia exhibition

The Thessaloniki Tourism Organization participated with an “ecological” pavilion at this year’s Philoxenia–Hotelia 2025 (November 14-16), which attracted more than 550 exhibitors, making the city of Thessaloniki a reference point for the tourism industry.

The sustainability of the city was at the heart of the OTTH’s presence, and the goal of raising public awareness for the adoption of practices that contribute to a more sustainable future. The Organization urged visitors to the exhibition to share the actions they implement in their daily lives, emphasizing that sustainable tourism is the result of the cooperation of both tourists and residents of a city.

The Thessaloniki Tourism Organization’s pavilion was honored with their presence, among others, by the Mayor of Thessaloniki and President of the Organization, Stelios Angeloudis, the Deputy Mayor for Culture, Tourism Development, International Relations and Inter-Municipal Cooperation, Vasilis Gakis, and the Vice President of the Thessaloniki Tourism Organization, Thanos Begas, who spoke with representatives of organizations about the prospects for further development of the city’s tourism identity.

Particular emphasis was also placed on hosting 85 Hosted Buyers from various countries, whom the Thessaloniki Tourism Organization welcomed and guided to selected points of interest in Thessaloniki, highlighting the comparative advantages of the destination and strengthening the city’s international professional connections.

According to the OTTH, with its presence at Philoxenia–Hotelia 2025 this year, the Organization confirms its commitment to a destination that evolves, innovates and focuses on people and the environment. Thessaloniki continues to chart a path that combines sustainable development with digital transformation, creating the conditions for a city that inspires, welcomes and stands out internationally.
