Disposable income -0.7% private investment +18.3% in Greece

Consumer spending was down by 1.1%, from 32.2 billion Euros to 31.8 billion in the second 3-month term in 2016, according to data released by the Greek statistical services ELSTAT.

Disposable household income dropped by 0.7%, from 29.9 billion to 29.7 over the same period, compared to 2015. The consumers’ savings index of stood at -7.2% in 2016 from -7.6% in 2015.

Private investments recorded a noteworthy rise, as Gross Fixed Capital Formation (GFCF) in the non-financial companies were up by 18.3%, from 2.559 billion to 3.026 billion. The external balance of good and services recorded a 0.4% deficit against a 0.1 billion surplus in the second 3-month term of 2015.
