Greek National Tourism Organisation (EOT) Secretary General Dimitris Tryfonopoulos invited Arab businessmen to invest in Greek tourism during the 5th Arab-Hellenic Economic Forum was organized under the auspices of the League of Arab states, Arab Chambers Federation and Greek Chamber of Commerce during 29 – 30 November 2016, in Athens, Greece, under the title “Unleashing the Arab-Hellenic potential.”
EOT’s Secretary General announced that arrivals for 2016 in Greece are projected to reach 27.5 million while the country can attract 35 million visitors by 2020 and that there are competitive tour package deals already on offer.
He also revealed that Greece has increased the number of “golden visas” granting a five-year residence permit renewable for third country nationals who purchase – individually or through a legal entity – property in Greece valued at a minimum of 250,000 euros, or who have taken out a minimum 10-year lease in hotel accommodation or tourism facilities.
The event was held in the presence of Ministers and Government Officials, Presidents of Arab Federations and Chambers of Commerce, as well as Member-Companies of the Arab-Hellenic Chamber, Greek and Arab business leaders, in addition to H.E Mr. Panagiotis Kouroumplis – a member of the European parliament who has represented Greece in many international organizations, including the international Monetary Fund.
