Piraeus Technical Committee: Former Helliniko airport not forest land

A 3.7-hectare expanse within the site of the former Athens international airport at Helliniko suburb is not forest land, according to a decision reached by the Piraeus Technical Committee for Examining Disputes on Monday.

The decision was on a case brought before the committee by the Hellenic Republic Asset Development Fund (HRADF) and Helliniko SA, objecting to a decision by the Piraeus forestry agency to designate the area as forest land, which created obstacles to investment plans on the site.
