Goldmining company Hellas Gold filed an injunction at the Council of State on Tuesday against Greek Environment and Energy Minister George Stathakis, charging that his delay in approving an extension of a licence for additional equipment delayed the operation of the gold mine at Skouries, in northern Greece.
The company, a subsidiary of Eldorado Gold, had applied for a year’s extension on a permit to install equipment at the auxiliary facilities in Skouries, at Kassandra on the Halkidiki peninsula in northern Greece. The old licence expired on March 24 this year.
The licence extension affects among others the operations of preparation of concrete, the installation of fans in the mine corridons as well as electrical equipment.
