Greece observer at the 6th CEEC Summit held in Budapest

Greece’s Deputy Economy Minister Stergios Pitsiorlas attended as observer that 6th Cooperation between China and Central and Eastern European Countries (CEEC) Summit that was held in Budapest.

On the sidelines of the summit Pitsiorlas took part in a series of bilateral meetings with representatives of Central and Eastern European countries.

The goal of the interstate cooperation, commonly known as 16+1, is the promotion of the Chinese initiative “One Belt, One Road” and the extension of the economic and trade cooperation with Central and Eastern European countries.

Furthermore, it encourages the participants to accelerate the connectivity programmes and to strengthen the investments in the sectors of technology, industry, energy and tourism.

Apart from Greece, observers included Austria, Switzerland, Belarus, and representatives from EU representative and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).

More than 1,000 enterpreneurs from China and from Central and Eastern European countries participated in the Economic and Trade Cooperation Forum that was held on the Summit’s sidelines.
