Tourism acts like a bridge to bring peoples together and promote friendship between them, Tourism Minister Elena Kountoura said during the two-day Balkans & Black Sea Cooperation Forum north of Athens, ANA reports.
At the Hellexpo premises in Maroussi, she reiterated at the forum that the government’s target is to turn Greece into an attractive global destination. Current indicators support the trend in this direction, she added, as 2018 opened with double-digit (a nearly 13 pct) rise in international arrivals and a 14 pct rise in tourist receipts in the first quarter of the year, compared to 2017.
April saw a record of international arrivals compared to any other season, while a 17 to 18 pct rise in bookings has been registered to the end of the year
