Greece reduces new business red tape through new e-system

Greece’s Secretary-General of Commerce and Consumer Protection Dimitris Avlonitis launched on Monday a new electronic system that will do away with the dreaded red tape and delays associated with setting up an enterprise in Greece.

According to Avlonitis the new electronic one-stop shop service will drastically reduce time, citing the example of the first company to be created via the system in less than 40 minutes.

The digital platform will initially be available for the creation of one-person companies and will gradually – by the end of 2019 – expand to include all other forms of firms.

The new service will be free of charge during the first year of operation. After that the cost will reach 30 pct of the cost of setting up a company in the traditional way.
