Greece’s Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras met with US Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross in the hope of attracting US investment interest.
Ross organized a working luncheon for the Greek Prime Minister with the participation of major US companies.
Executives from American energy, commerce, innovation, industry, construction and IT companies took part in the luncheon as well as investment funds and banks who expressed interest in investing in Greece.
According to Greek government sources Tsipras spoke up the Greek economy arguing that it “has regained its stability and is recovering,” as well as “the growth dynamics of Greece, emerging from a long period of austerity and recession.”
During his meetings with US officials, the Greek Prime Minster spoke of Greece’s advantages following the conclusion of the adjustment programmes as well as Greece’s geopolitical significance as a pillar of stability in the southeastern Mediterranean.
“Our target now is to attract investments that will create new jobs,” he stressed.
