A draft bill will be tabled in Parliament on Thursday to allow the privatization of specific activities at 10 regional port authorities around Greece, namely, Alexandroupolis, Volos, Elefsina, Igoumenitsa, Irakleio, Kavala, Corfu, Lavrio, Patras and Rafina, naftemporiki.gr reports.
The shares of the 10 regional ports are controlled by Greece’s privatization agency, HRADF.
Contrary to the full privatization followed with Greece’s two biggest ports, Piraeus and Thessaloniki, the Greek state will not grant ownership of the regional ports through share purchases, but through activity concessions.
The authorities of each one of the ports in question shall determine the activities that will be offered on an international tender, while the tenderimg process will be run according to national and EU law.
According to information the Athens-Macedonian News Agency has secured, the ports of Alexandroupoli and Kavala are top in the list of TAIPED’s priorities.
