After the success of the specialized “Digital Nomad Visa”, Greece is next planning to introduce a “Medical Visa” for those that want to come to the country to undergo medical procedures, Alternate Foreign Minister Miltiadis Varvitsiotis said in a recorded video message shown at the “Work from Greece” seminar, the foreign ministry announced on Wednesday,
At the seminar on Tuesday, Varvitsiotis said that Greece was the first country to introduce regulations for the new ‘digital nomad’ class of workers, with legislation introduced a year ago establishing certain restrictions as regards the income and working relationship with digital nomads.
“Looking at global competition, it is the moment to perhaps make our approach more flexible,” he added. Pointing to initiatives such as the Student Visa, Business Visa, and Digital Nomad Visa, Varvitsiotis said Greece will not stop adopting new ways in which foreign nationals can visit the country.
He also announced plans to further enhance Greece’s digital presence by providing information on the various types of visas on offer at the click of a button, while noting that traditional consular services were at their limits due to the great increase in demand.
The seminar was held on the one-year anniversary since the digital platform workfromgreece.gr began operating.
It was an initiative of the non-profit organization Marketing Greece, set up by the Greek tourism enterprises and hoteliers associations to help boost Greek tourism.
