GREEK HOUSE DAVOS 2024: How to boost innovation in smaller cities and regions

Up to nearly ten years ago, startups in Nigeria were hard to find. In reality, it would be hard for someone to find even a single one. Today there are more than 600 startups in the country, some of which are staffed by specialized domestic talent, such as programmers, while they collaborate with companies in Europe, the United States, and Asia, ANA reports.

Nigeria’s example is characteristic in terms of how new technologies – combined with the right infrastructure to develop innovation – can provide impetus to innovative entrepreneurship even in areas where that does not appear initially easy.

These observations were made at a panel on “Breaking Boundaries: Catalyzing Innovation Transfer for a Thriving Africa”, during the Greek House Davos 2024 initiative in the context of the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland. The panel included Nigerian Industry, Trade and Investment Minister Doris Nkiruka Uzoka-Anite, Joist Innovation Park CEO & Founder Tasos Vasileiadis, and Salas Group Chairman & CEO Nikos Salapataras, also president of International Humanitarian Aid Foundation (IHAF). The panel was moderated by Forbes editor Rhett Power.
