The 11 privatizations completed by the New Democracy government since 2023 brought 7.8 billion euros to the state and conveyed the message that Greece is changing, National Economy & Finance Minister Kostis Hatzidakis said in Parliament plenary on Thursday, ANA reports.
Speaking in the context of the bill ratifying the new concession for the Attiki Odos highway being voted in Parliament today, Hatzidakis said that the privatization number is a record, with the most recent one being the privatization of 10% of National Bank, whose share offering was oversubscribed 12 times. “This means that Greece is on the investments map, that there are opportunities for development, new and better jobs and prospects for Greek citizens,” the minister said. Investors will operate these organizations and businesses better, instead of being problematic and having the cost shouldered by citizens and taxpayers, he noted.
