The upgrading of Greek tourism through the resources of the Recovery Fund

With a long-term planning of 10 years, the Ministry of Tourism is designing, launching and implementing projects that will bring Greek tourism to an even more competitive position in the global market and will equip it with modern elements and infrastructures that will contribute to the goal of sustainability and resilience required for its development,” noted the Minister of Tourism, Ms. Olga Kefalogianni, at the Conference organized by the Ministry with the aim of informing potential beneficiaries about the projects to strengthen tourism development, which are financed by the Recovery and Resilience Fund.

We are investing in quality, innovation, digital transition, and in highlighting the uniqueness of each place. We are creating the conditions for a more resilient, more sustainable, fairer tourism for everyone – visitors, businesses,s and local communities. It is a strategic choice for the future of tourism, which strengthens the national economy and at the same time protects and highlights the wealth of Greece”.

In the context of the conference, support projects aimed at upgrading the infrastructure of tourist ports, ski resorts, and mountain refuges were presented. At the same time, reference was made to projects aimed at improving accessibility to the country’s beaches, as well as the creation of new or upgrading existing facilities for spa tourism.

Finally, the project to provide incentives for the establishment and operation of Destination Management and Promotion Organizations (DMMOs) was presented, as well as the initiative for the establishment of the National Observatory for Sustainable Tourism Development and the corresponding regional observatories.
