The company MATENISA TRADING CO. LTD, owned by the Melissanidis family, completed the acquisition of the “Agia Triada Beach and Camping” property in Thessaloniki on Thursday, July 31, 2025. The property spans approximately 160 acres and was acquired for a total price of €19.5 million.
The contract was signed with the Hellenic Corporation of Assets and Participations (HCAP), in the presence of its CEO Giannis Papachristou, Deputy CEO Panagiotis Stampoulidis, and MATENISA representative Spyros Fokas.
According to HCAP, a digital auction was held as part of the international tender for the property’s development. Three investment groups submitted improved offers, with the final bid 140.7% higher than the starting price of €8.1 million.
Vision for Sustainable Tourism Development
The company plans to develop the site with a focus on sustainable tourism, boosting the local economy and implementing environmentally and socially responsible interventions.
The project will include multi-purpose uses in harmony with the natural and urban environment, aiming to enhance the touristic, cultural, and business profile of the greater Thermaikos area. The development will be carried out through the Greek-based company “ANATOLIKO EMPORIKI KATASKEVASTIKI”, affiliated with MATENISA.
The Investment Plan
Key elements of the project include:
Construction of modern vacation residences, apartments, and shared public spaces, designed to blend into the local landscape
Creation of a small, organized residential complex with support services, green spaces, and direct access to the beachfront
Development of a high-end hotel, built with low-impact architecture, offering accommodation, dining, and wellness services, with a focus on guest experience and integration into the natural surroundings
The project has already received Presidential Decree approval, making it legally and institutionally ready for immediate implementation within the outlined timeline.
Social and Economic Impact
The project is expected to significantly benefit the local community by:
Creating new jobs during construction and in the operation phase
Connecting with local production and businesses to strengthen the regional economy
Attracting high-quality tourism, targeting more demanding and environmentally conscious visitors
Additionally, the investment will upgrade the wider area, acting as a catalyst for further development along the Agia Triada coastline and linking it more closely with the broader tourism map of the region.
