By decision of the Ministry of Development, the inclusion of the investment of the company “ASTIR PALACE VOULIAGMENIS S.A.” in the provisions of law 3299/2004 is revoked and the return of the granted subsidy is requested.
The initial decision, which was issued in 2007, provided for a subsidy of 2.62 million euros (30% of the total budget of 8.76 million euros) for the upgrade of the 5-star hotel unit “Nafsika” in the Asteras complex, with a capacity of 162 rooms and 319 beds.
However, according to the new decision of the General Directorate of Development Laws and Foreign Direct Investments, the company is obliged to return the amount of the aid together with the legal interest. The total amount that it is required to pay amounts to 788,490 euros, calculated from the date of payment of the grant (May 2008) to the date of submission of the refund application (October 2017).
The decision is part of the framework of audits of the implementation of law 4887/2022 and the relevant ministerial decision on the operation of the Advisory Committee.
