Green light for new strategic investment in tourism

A strategic investment in tourism, amounting to 85.4 million euros, was approved by the Interministerial Committee for Strategic Investments, convened by the Minister of Development Takis Theodorikakos.

This concerns the creation of a tourist unit by ATOKOS LTD in Ithaca. The investment concerns the creation of a luxury tourist complex in Filiatro, by the Tsakou Group. It includes a 5-star hotel with 60 beds, 50 villas, spa, restaurants, and also foresees the creation of a tourist port facility with a waterway. The investment will create 71 new jobs.

The Interministerial Committee also approved two more strategic investments in industry. Specifically:

“Olympus Project” by AGET HERAKLIS – HOLCIM in Milaki, Evia | This is an emblematic investment of exceptional importance, amounting to 99 million euros, which introduces to Greece one of the most advanced industrial technologies in the construction materials sector in Europe.

The project concerns the fundamental change of the production process at the Milakio cement plant, with the aim of drastically reducing CO? emissions, reducing energy consumption and increasing production capacity. With the installation of innovative heat recovery systems, electricity generation from hot exhaust gases, waste treatment and the use of secondary fuels, CO? emissions will be reduced below European limits, substantially contributing to the “green” transition of Greek industry. The investment will create 20 new, highly skilled and highly paid jobs.

New production unit of NEOTEX S.A. in Magoula, Attica | It concerns an emblematic investment of exceptional importance for the creation of a new production unit for advanced insulating and resinous materials in the Magoula Business Park, with a budget of 21.4 million euros, by NEOTEX, a Greek company with an export presence in 70 countries and 4 continents.
The project envisages the creation of modern production and storage facilities for construction materials, with the aim of strengthening the company’s competitiveness and production capacity in innovative waterproofing, insulation and floor protection products.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Prime Minister Kostis Hatzidakis, Deputy Minister of National Economy and Finance Nikos Papathanasis, Minister of Environment and Energy Stavros Papastavrou, Minister of Culture Lina Mendoni, and Secretary General of Private Investments Stellina Siarapi. Deputy Minister of Tourism Anna Karamanli also participated in the discussion on tourism investment.

With today’s approvals, the total number of strategic investments approved in the last year amounts to 18, totaling 2.7 billion euros, which is the largest number of strategic investments in recent years. Of these, 9 concern industry, 7 tourism, and 2 research, innovation and technology.
