“Attiki On”: 120 million euros to support 1,301 businesses in Attica – Tourism enterprises account for 7%

With the impressive participation of 1,301 small and very small businesses of various legal forms, the submission process for the investment support program “Attiki On – Activating Entrepreneurship – Strength for Growth – Support for Business,” with a total budget of 120.2 million euros, has been completed. The program is implemented within the framework of the “Attica” 2021–2027 Operational Programme.

Already, 406 investment plans, with a total budget of 38 million euros, have been approved, allowing beneficiary businesses to immediately move into the implementation phase. The action is co-funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and national resources, with ELANET (EFEPAE) acting as the intermediate managing authority, ensuring full financing of all approved investment proposals.

By the end of January 2026, the evaluation process will be completed and the final results of approvals will be published, enabling the full activation of the available budget for the benefit of small and very small enterprises across the Attica Basin.

According to the Region, from the publication of the call until today, the processes of submission, eligibility checking, evaluation and issuance of inclusion decisions have been carried out in parallel, ensuring that no valuable time is lost for the businesses investing in modernization and adaptation.

The Region of Attica, in cooperation with the Ministry of National Economy and Finance and the competent bodies, has secured a framework of clear criteria, transparency and fast processing, so that the program can have an immediate impact on the real economy, creating new investments, new jobs and strengthening Attica’s productive base.

Strong participation from manufacturing – Support for small and very small enterprises
From the available data so far, it appears that:

– 53% of applications come from very small businesses (up to 9 employees),
– while 47% come from small businesses (more than 9 employees).

Regarding business activity:

– 63% of applications were submitted by manufacturing enterprises,
– 30% by general service companies (research and development, transport, industrial design, etc.),
– while 7% concern tourism businesses.

These figures confirm that the “Attiki On” program addresses the real needs of Attica’s productive fabric, placing emphasis where the core of small and very small entrepreneurship lies.

Alliance with Chambers and productive bodies
The “Attiki On” call resulted from a systematic and substantive consultation with the major Chambers and productive bodies of Attica, which began in early March. The action was designed to meet the actual needs of the market, with simple, transparent and accessible procedures, ensuring that the available budget is allocated precisely where it is truly needed — in small and very small production units.

This close cooperation with Chambers and productive bodies will continue into the next implementation phase, with the aim of ensuring timely and efficient delivery of investment projects and optimal use of the resources of the “Attica” 2021–2027 Programme.

It is worth noting that, in this direction, the Region has already published the call for the support–granting of social enterprises (K.A.L.O.) in Attica, with a total budget of 5 million euros from the European Social Fund (ESF+). Furthermore, calls for the following actions are in the planning process for the first half of 2026:

– “Research and Innovation Partnerships in Attica,”
– “Creation of New Jobs for the Unemployed in Enterprises of the RIS3 Strategy,” and
– “Support for business adaptation through the adoption of technologies that enable digital transformation.”

On the occasion of the completion of proposal submissions by businesses, the Governor of Attica, Nikos Hardalias, stated:
“‘Attiki On’ proves that when there is planning, consistency and cooperation, we can move quickly and — most importantly — effectively. When we presented it, we committed that it would not be just another program on paper, but a tool that would reach small and very small businesses in Attica immediately and safely. Today, within just a few months, we already have 1,301 applications, 406 approved investment plans, and an evaluation process moving at record speed, with all phases running in parallel.

Funding is fully secured, the first businesses are already beginning to implement their investment plans, and by the end of January we will have the final approval results. We are investing in innovation, resilience, extroversion and sustainable development, supporting businesses to modernize, reduce their environmental footprint and create new, high-quality jobs.

Supporting entrepreneurship in Attica is not merely a regional strategy. It is a national necessity. Attica produces nearly half of the country’s GDP and the largest share of employment, hosting more than 50% of business activity. If Attica moves forward, Greece moves forward. With planning, consistency and cooperation with Chambers and productive bodies, we are putting this strategy into action — offering real strength to development and tangible support to entrepreneurship. We stand firmly by healthy entrepreneurship, to be useful and to support in every possible way the effort for the development and prosperity of our region.”
