The first, and mostly expected, extension of a deadline to submit binding offers for an integrated resort casino at the Helleniko site was announced on Monday by Greece’s gaming commission, naftemporiki.gr reports.
The new deadline is May 31, 2019, after being moved from April 22.
Interest has so far been declared by Ceasars Entertainment, Mohegan Gaming, Hard Rock and Genting.
According to reports, the one-month extension is related to pending issues dealing with zoning at the Helleniko site, where the old Athens airport once operated. Specifically, an unspecified number of ministerial decisions are pending, along with an environmental impact study that will be up for debate until May 14.
At last word, nevertheless, the ministerial decisions and the environmental impact study will take months to conclude.
