Crete Region Governor Stavros Arnaoutakis established a Working Group on Health Tourism consisting of the following scientists: Emmanuel Klontzas, Vamiedakis Michael, Raptakis Nikolaos, Trichopoulou Anna, Magkanaraki Emilia, Karantanis Apostolos, Tsilibaris Miltiades, Pateraki Patras, Kampanis Nicholas, Marias Constantine, Kouroubali Angelina, Manasakis Constantine, and Loubounis Emmanuel.
The mission of the Working Group was described as follows:
– recording and efficient promotion of issues related to the development of health tourism services in the Region of Crete, as well as the emergence of institutional and organizational weaknesses and shortcomings in matters relating to the provision of high quality health services
– formation of a text for the development strategy of health tourism services in the Crete Region
– searching for strategic actions and financial tools for the promotion and development of health tourism services
– monitoring of institutional activities related to health tourism
– organizing of seminars, workshops, conferences and other instructional activities aimed at promoting education, information exchange and partnership between interested institutions
– facilitating the participation in specialized conferences and exhibitions
– evaluating and promoting of any relevant proposal for the promotion of health tourism issues.
– advertising the need for development of health tourism activities in the Region of Crete
