A series of actions towards the promotion and enhancement of the diversified tourism product of Pieria and the extension of the tourist season were decided by the Pierikos Organization for Tourism Development and Promotion, under the coordination of Deputy Regional Governor Sophia Mavridou:
-Promotion of alternative forms of tourism
-Driving for all year round tourism throughout Pieria for summer and winter seasons in order for local businesses to be sustainable.
-Configuration of a comprehensive action plan for tourism policy by utilizing the appropriate strategic marketing mix, incorporating special events, targeted actions with the media, tourism fairs etc.
-Cooperation with institutional stakeholders in tourism (SETE, Marketing Greece, et.al.
– Connecting tourism to the primary sector of the economy (local traditional products, gastronomy, rural tourism etc.)
– Highlighting all the competitive advantages of Pieria (culture, archeology, religious monuments etc.)
-Creation of website and smartphone applications smartphone specially tailored for the promotion of tourism
-Diversifying tourism strategy according to the needs of each local area
