Private clinic operators appear pessimistic over the coming period, as the accumulated decrease in turnover since the advent of the ongoing economic crisis has reached a stratospheric 750 million euros.
Pessimism extends into the 2017-2018 period, where the decrease in turnover is expected to ease at 2 percent over the coming two-year period.
According to reports, the specific market segment in 2016 is expected to reach 1.35 billion euros, a dramatic decrease from 2.12 billion euros in 2009.
A recent study, in fact, which surveyed the top health care operators in the country, showed continued optimism over future results. Maintenance of the rebate and clawback clauses as well as what they claim is the difficult cooperation with the biggest state-run health care provider (EOPPY), along with a dramatic decrease in households’ disposable income, are cited as the factors for the gloomy outlook in the sector.
