The new winter tourism program in Crete started with 10 flights a week that will bring 1,700 visitors from Germany and Switzerland and it is expected to reach 50,000 tourists by its completion.
According to local newspaper Patris (patris.gr) the first travelers arrived on October 13th.The project is implemented with the assistance of Turkish entrepreneurs, the company of local businessman Kostas Bandouvas and the cooperation of Aegean Airlines, which has undertaken the transport of the visitors.
In Heraklion and Rethymnon there are 6 hotels that will remain open for the first time in winter while travelers are scheduled to visit archaeological sites on the island.
