Two more hot springs in Greece have been officially recognised as thermal spas in a ministerial decision implementing national tourism policy, which aims to boost forms of theme tourism – in this case spa tourism and promoting thermal springs as tourist destinations.
According to an announcement on Tuesday, the two springs recently recognised spas are those of Kivotos, Grevena in northern Greece and Paleovraha, Makrakomi in central Greece. The first is recommended for the treatment of rheumatism, joint pains and nerve system disorders, while that in Paleovraha is considered therapeutic for muscular, skeletal and nervous system ailments, and skin problems.
The specific ministerial decision was signed by Tourism Minister Elena Kountoura.
A total of 45 springs have so far been recognised and licenced in the country, with more applications for recognition pending.
