Turkish hoteliers call for casino openings to attract Chinese tourists

The opening of casinos in Turkey only for foreign players is demanded by hoteliers, in the hope that this would attract more Chinese tourists to Turkey.

As stated by President of the Turkish Hotel Association (T?ROB) Timur Bay?nd?r, some 261 million Chinese travel around the world, but less than 1 million visit Turkey.

The Chinese, he said, are casino lovers and spend a lot of money there. That is why Turkey needs touring casinos in which only foreign passport holders can enter. He proposed Yass?ada Island in the Sea of Marmara as a perfect area to open such a casino.

“We lose Chinese tourists who choose Bulgaria, Georgia and Romania because they have a casino,” emphasized Mr Timur Bay?nd?r.

T?ROB President also said that high fares on flights and inadequate flights between the two countries also discourage Chinese tourists to visit Turkey.

“The Chinese can buy a return ticket to Spain with just 327 euros, but one ticket for Turkey from China is five times higher,” he said.

Mr.Bay?nd?r also pointed out that the Chinese have passion for luxury products, so Turkey needs to create its own luxury brands, such as “Louis Vuitton”, which could also help to attract Chinese tourists to the country.
