+ 6% in Greek road tourism during 2017

A 6.1% increase in road arrivals to Greece was recorded in 2017 compared with 2016, according to Sete Intelligence, even though the number of arrivals by road dropped by 15.5 percent in December for a third consecutive month 

It should be noted that road arrivals are recorded by local Police Departments on the basis of nationality, irrespective of the place of permanent residence and, therefore, figures also include foreign migrants in Greece who return from a trip abroad.

In 2017, 12.8 million arrivals were recorded, compared with 12.0 million in 2016.

In particular, the Evzones station recorded 3.8 million arrivals showing a decrease of -3.3%. At the Promachones station (+ 71.1%), 2.7 million arrivals were recorded and 1.5 million at the Nymphaio station (+ 1.0%).

The remaining road stations record arrivals of less than 1 million.

The cross-border stations of Krystallopigi (808 km / + 4,1%) and Kipos (785 thousand / + 17,6%) complete the top-5 list.

In the sixth place is Kakavia, with 588 thousand arrivals and a decrease of -22,8% while in the seventh place Doirani (585 thousand. / + 35,6%).

Exodos and Ormenios stations declined by -23.3% and -37.6% respectively.

The top 10 list also includes Nikis Station, which posted an increase of + 17.3% with +350 thousand arrivals.
