Turkey grants permission for liturgy at Orthodox Church in Cesme

Turkish authorities granted the Ecumenical Patriarchate permission to hold a liturgy at the Agios Charalambos Church in the coastal town of Cesme, across from the Greek island of Chios, ANA reports.

Metropolitan Bartholomew of Smyrna will officiate at the liturgy on February 10, name day of the saint after which the church is named. The Orthodox community of Izmir (Smyrna) will organize the event while authorities on Chios have arranged for boats to take the faithful to Turkey for the service on the morning of February 10 and bring them back at its end.
