Minister: All year round tourism in southern Greek Region of Peloponnese

“Peloponnese has all the comparative advantages to support tourism 365 days a year in Arcadia, Argolida, Corinth, Laconia and Messinia.  Our goal is to spur tourism development, enhance the outward orientation of tourism, reinforce local communities and create new jobs through tourism,” said Greek Minister of Tourism Elena Kountoura.

Addressing the 10th Regional Government Conference in Tripoli. Mrs. Kountoura, together with the Minister of Culture Lydia Koniordou and the Deputy Minister of Sports G. Vassiliades, informed all the Peloponnesian producers about the government’s actions being implemented  in tourism, culture and sport and discussed the proposals, priorities and new opportunities for development.

Noting the 15% increase in arrivals to Peloponnese in 2017, the Tourism Minister underlined the need to extend the season, tap into new markets, promote new products and enhance local cooperation and praised her cooperation with Regional Governor of the Peloponnese Petros Tatoulis which contributed to the growth in tourism traffic through Kalamata Airport and attained higher occupancy rates at hotels.
