A troubled casino in Loutraki, outside the south-central city of Corinth, west of Athens, Greece has resumed operation after a temporary suspension, its management announced on Friday.
According to an announcement by Club Casino Loutraki, the reasons that led to its temporary suspension have been lifted.
The casino also said that its petition before an Athens administrative court, requesting the reversal of a decision by Greece’s gaming commission, was partially accepted. The Hellenic Gaming Commission had ordered the debt-laden casino closed between March 1 and 3, 2018, due to a complicated case whereby the casino refused to remit a daily gaming tax to the state of up to 44 million euros – a figure adjudicated by an appeals court in favor of the casino in another trial.
However, on Friday Club Hotel Casino Loutraki said it paid the gaming fee for March 4 and 5, and awaits a final decision by an appeals court.
The casino has filed for protection under the country’s bankruptcy code.
