Northern Greece’s wonderful Kastoria lake in all its “frozen” splendor

Northern Greece’s beautiful Kastoria Lake has “frozen” over after the region received heavy snowfall and below zero temperatures, greekcitytimes.com reports.

The lake which is also known as Lake Orestiada has been listed as a “Natural Monument of Outstanding Beauty” by the country’s Cultural Ministry.

As the impressive images show, Orestiada has been “dressed” in white and looks more like a snowfield rather than a lake.

Photos with the rare phenomenon were posted on sentra.com, highlighting the spectacular sight, which has impressed locals who are trying to make the most of this unique winter wonderland.

Temperatures are well below zero and the snow is continuing at a steady pace in the area.
