Greece’s men’s national water polo team on Sunday advanced to the quarter-finals in the 2019 World Aquatics Championships held in South Korea after beating the U.S. team 11-9, according to greekreporter.com.
The Greek team was in top form on Sunday morning in Gwangju, working hard against a difficult opponent, but they finally snatched the victory in the last period.
The score in the four periods was: 3-4, 6-6, 8-8, 11-9.
Following the U.S., Greece has to beat Italy on Tuesday to make it to the semi-finals

A day before, the Greek women’s water polo team beat China 12-8 and advanced to the semi-finals as well in the 2019 World Aquatics Championships.
Defense was the top weapon of the Greek squad, keeping the Chinese players away from their net. The score in the four periods was: 4-1, 2-2, 4-4, 2-1.
The Greek women will have to defeat the United States on Monday to qualify for the semi-finals.
