Maria Kyridou and Christina Bourbou won the gold medal during the 2000m final of the Under 23 World Rowing Championship, which took place in Florida, US, according to greekreporter.com.
They finished first with a time of 07.11.67”, only to be followed by the duos representing South Africa and Russia.
The two Greek athletes from Thessaloniki took part in this year’s competition, among hundreds of other athletes who represent more than 50 countries.
A few hours later, at the respective race for men, the Greek duo of Kalandaridis – Paleopanos won the bronze medal, finishing third, behind the duos from Romania and Lithuania.
