Greek court rejects appeals by Thrace muftis against obligatory retirement

The Council of State rejected an appeal by the muftis, or Muslim religious leaders, of Xanthi and Komotini in northern Greece against their obligatory retirement at 67 years of age, which they have already passed, ANA reports.

Greece’s highest administrative court ruled after its plenary session that the obligatory retirement age is both part of an objective regulation on muftis and part of the civil service regulations for public servants, and agrees with the constitution which sets a term of office by justices, especially high-level ones.
