Nia Vardalos gave out some hints recently that she’s been thinking of filming another sequel to the film that made her a star, “My Big Fat Greek Wedding”, according to greekreporter.com.
The Greek-Canadian star told “Closer Weekly” that possibly filming “My Big Fat Greek Wedding 3” has been on her mind a lot recently.
The first film came out in theaters in 2002, with the assistance of Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson, who saw Nia’s one-woman show based on her Greek family and decided it absolutely needed to be a movie.
The sequel, “My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2”, came out in 2016 and featured the original cast plus then-newcomer Elena Kampouris playing Nia’s daughter.
Vardalos refuses to disclose what plot she has in mind for the third installment. She jokingly told one reporter, “if I tell you, I’m gonna have to blowtorch you right in the forehead”.
Nevertheless, fans of the series can definitely expect the Portokalos family and the rest of the original gang to come back together for any sequel. Vardalos emphasized that she and the other actors in the series, including Lainie Kazan, John Corbett, Michael Constantine, and Andrea Martin, are still very close.
