Greek actress Nia Vardalos plays ‘The Black Widow’ in new lifetime movie (video)

Nia Vardalos is starring in a new Lifetime movie based on a true story, titled “Poisoned Love: The Stacey Castor Story”, according to greekreporter.com.

The 57-year-old actress plays the role of Stacey Castor, who in real life was accused of poisoning her second husband, David after he was found dead.

Following the mysterious death of her second husband, Castor’s first husband, Michael Wallace, was exhumed. Though he was initially suspected to have died of a heart attack, the authorities found anti-freeze in his system, which was also the method of poison chosen for David.

The story gets even darker, as Stacey, the role Vardalos plays, had a daughter named Ashley in real life. During the investigation into her husbands’ deaths, Stacey attempted to poison her daughter and frame the two men’s murders on her.

Eventually, Castor, nicknamed “The Black Widow” by the media, was sentenced to a total of 50 years in prison for her heinous crimes.

You can watch Vardalos play the murderous wife and mother in the trailer…
