After being diagnosed with COVID-19 along with husband Tom Hanks and recovering from the virus in Australia, Rita Wilson performed live for an online NASCAR event, according to greekreporter.com.
The 63-year-old actress and singer performed “The Star-Spangled Banner” in her home, where it was filmed by her son Truman. The anthem was streamed at the beginning of NASCAR’s iRacing event on April 5.
Wilson, who is back home in Los Angeles with her husband and family, is sheltering at home and social distancing like most United States residents.
NASCAR fans were delighted and emotional to witness Wilson’s performance following her diagnosis, as it seemed to give them hope in a time of crisis.
The iRacing events are broadcast on FOX Sports and have been pulling in more than 1 million viewers. The virtual events have NASCAR drivers competing against each other using race simulators.
