The Athens Concert Hall’s Megaron Plus online series and the cultural organization Diazoma continued their joint presentation of ancient Greek theaters on Tuesday, highlighting the theater of Cassope in Epirus, NW Greece, ANA reports.
Besides Cassope, the live streaming series on Epirus have so far presented the theater of Nikopolis (Feb. 23) and plan to highlight those of Amvrakia (April 15) and Gitana (June 18) in a series of free screenings available at the links https://www.megaron.gr/event/paramerizontas-to-peplo-tou-chronou-archaio-theatro-kassopis/ and https://digitalculture.gov.gr/. The lectures involve archaeologists and are coordinated by Stavros Benos, chief of Diazoma. The series is offered free to the public.
The town of Cassope was built before 340 BC on a naturally fortified plateau, nearly 600 meters above sea level, in the Preveza prefecture. It had a polygonal fortifying wall, nearly 3.50m thick, which enclosed nearly 600 two-story houses.
