EOT: Plan for the promotion of military tourism in Greece

When you hear about sites you should visit in Greece you are thinking of Delphi, the Acropolis, Olympia, etc, protothema.gr notes.

But you have definitely heard of Thermopylae and Marathon too, but have ever thought of visiting the actual places where history was written?

They are legendary places where historical events took place, some of the greatest battles in history, which are even taught as case studies in military academies and war schools around the globe.

With this in mind, it should come as no surprise that the Greek government is launching specific actions to promote the so-called military tourism. Thus, the Secretary-General of National Tourism Organization (EOT) Dimitris Fraggakis met with the president of the War Museum Anastasios Liascos, the first vice president, Lieutenant General Nikolaos Chionis, and the special adviser of the Museum, Christos Petreas, on the promotion of military tourism by the EOT.

The initiative is covered by a memorandum of cooperation between the Ministries of National Defense, Culture – Sports, and Tourism for the promotion of this relatively new but rapidly growing international type of tourism.
