The Greek health ministry’s bill which updates the legislative framework of assistive reproduction was approved in a plenary vote in parliament on Tuesday, ANA reports.
Among the key changes introduced is an increase in the age limit for assisted reproduction to 54 years old, up from 50 years old at present, and the possibility of cryopreservation of genetic material for purely social reasons. It will also abolish restrictions concerning the freedom to decide on the use of one’s own genetic material, as well as give donors the option to be named or anonymous.
