Greektown Chicago marks Greek Independence anniversary with program series in March

Greektown Chicago celebrates Greek Independence Day all month long in March with a series of public programs. After a successful launch in 2021, the popular Greektown Restaurant Week returns March 1-7 with discounts and special offers from restaurants throughout the neighborhood— including legacy Greek restaurants that have been in Greektown for decades. Throughout March, Greektown Shopper’s Reward program, March 1-31, will be offering a rebate for customers who spend $200 or more at the neighborhood’s businesses and submit qualifying receipts via email. The month ends with the Greek Heritage Parade on Sunday, March 26 at 2 PM, celebrating the rich Hellenic identity and culture in Chicago.

Greektown Restaurant Week

Greektown Chicago brings back its popular Greektown Restaurant Week March 1-7, featuring special offers and dishes from restaurants throughout the neighborhood. One example of a delicious deal is Artopolis Bakery and Caf?’s Artopita Happy Hour, 11 AM-3 PM, March 1-7, serving $6 pastries. Many more participating Restaurant Week businesses and specials will be announced soon, so stay tuned on GreektownChicago.org.

Greek Heritage Parade

To cap off the month of Greek heritage celebrations, Greektown commemorates Greek Independence Day by hosting the Greek Heritage Parade the day after Greece’s national holiday, Sunday, March 26 at 2 PM. Presented by the Federation of Hellenic-American Organizations (ENOSIS), and sponsored by Greektown Special Service Area #16, the Greek Heritage Parade has been established as one of the biggest annual events in the Chicago Greek community since its founding in the 1960s. During this celebration, visitors can see colorful traditional costumes, experience traditional Greek music and dance troupe performances, and watch as the community officially celebrates Greek Independence. Greektown Shopper’s Reward

In commemoration of Greek Independence Day and tied to the celebrations of Greek Heritage going on this month, Greektown Chicago is encouraging community members to support Greektown neighborhood businesses by shopping, dining, purchasing gift cards, and ordering takeout or delivery, from restaurants and merchants.

In the Greektown Shopper’s Reward program, running March 1-31, customers who spend a minimum of $25 in at least three Greektown Chicago restaurants and merchants totaling $200 (before tax and gratuity) are eligible to receive a $50 Visa gift card. Customers can receive up to two gift cards per household, while supplies last. Must include a valid receipt dated from March 1, 2023, to March 31, 2023.
