State spending on Greece’s National Health Sustem currently nears 5.2 billion, noted the new Health Minister Michalis Chryssochoidis on Tuesday, during the handover ceremony with outgoing caretaker Health Minister Anastassia Kotanidou, ANA reports.
Chryssochoidis also mentioned that 80 hospitals and 156 health centers will be upgraded via the EU Recovery Fund and noted that the government planned to hire 10,000 medical staff – mainly nurses – and expand the ongoing preventative medical tests programs.
