Visiting Archbishop of America meets with Greek PM and Education Minister

Visiting Archbishop Elpidophoros of America met separately in Athens on Wednesday with Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and Education, Religious Affairs, and Sports Minister Kyriakos Pierrakakis, ANA reports.

At the meeting at Maximos Mansion, PM Mitsotakis expressed optimism that an updated bill to allow Greek nationals abroad to vote will be approved by Greek Parliament. The archbishop expressed his full support of the bill, adding “It is something all Greeks abroad are waiting for,” as they wish to participate in Greek public affairs.

After his meeting with Education Minister Pierrakakis, Elpidophoros said they had an “excellent meeting”, and added, “We’re looking forward to strengthening the partnership between the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America and his ministry, elevating Hellenic Education and Culture in the USA for our Omogeneia and fellow Americans.”
